This is an introductory course to recreational freediving, aims at complete beginners, snorkelers and swimmers that want to progress with their breath holds and discover the underwater world in a safe environment. You will be taught the basics of diving, breath holding, relaxation, safety in the water and equalisation techniques. You will be confident and equipped with the knowledge of freediving, with a perfect base to begin your freediving journey.
This course is designed to be an introduction to recreational freediving for the complete beginner. It aims to help the student to develop basic skills, knowledge, and safety procedures necessary to enjoy freediving safely.
This course includes:
One Theory Session
The student will be given access to AIDA educational material before the course commences, and it is highly advised to read through these documents in preparation of the practicals. Material focuses on equipment used, safety techniques, breathing and equalising.
One Breathing Workshop
Before getting into the water, you will practice relaxation and breathing techniques to prepare for the water session. This involves relaxation breathing, breath hold and recovery breaths.
One Open water session
You will bring your skills to the water and practice performing duck dives, and dive on a line to a max depth of 10meters. This is all about getting used to diving, equalising and perfecting your technique.
One Pool session
If conditions are not favourable at sea, the student will try out pool disciplines and practice breath hold techniques in this setting. The static apnea is a discipline of freediving where the diver simply holds their breath and stays still on the surface of the water, faced down. It's all about relaxation and mental training!

Documents
Students are required to fill in AIDA medical statement and the AIDA liability release before starting any course. Paperwork will be given to you to sign before the course begins.
