A Freediving Certification Course for Beginners in Tulum
This is the only course you'll need to learn the necessary techniques to safely freedive to depths of up to 21 meters (70 feet).
The cenotes, tranquil freshwater sinkholes in the Yucatan Peninsula, offer the perfect setting to learn and develop as a freediver: Perfect surface conditions year-round, warm water temperatures (25° C/ 77° F), no currents, and spectacular visibility.
The course consists of:
- 2 theory sessions of 2 hours each
- 2 water sessions in open cenotes of 2-3 hours each
- A freediving-specific pranayama session.
During the theory, you will learn about:
- The development of freediving as a sport
- Freediving gear considerations
- Physiology
- Techniques and Equalization
- How to breath at different times during your diving sessions
- Freediving safety and rescues
During the water sessions you will practice:
- How to approach depth pulling from a vertical rope (known as free immersion or line diving)
- Efficient kicking technique and duck-dives
- How to approach depth using your fins (swimming down and up, known as Constant Weight diving)
- How to assist another freediver at the surface
- How to rescue someone from at least 6 meters (20 feet) of depth
